Reigning U.S. Women’s Open Champion Hilary Lunke returned to
her hometown of
Edina, Minnesota on Saturday, May 15th to conduct
a golf clinic for girl golfers ages 8 to 18. Sponsored by
GOLF MINNESOTA®,
publishers of Golf Minnesota magazine and www.golfminnesota.com, Hilary was
joined by 4 area teaching pros, including
Lisa Masters,
National
LPGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2003. Approximately 90 girls
participated in the free, 4-hour clinic held at
Braemar Golf Course,
which was Hilary’s home course when she played and won a Minnesota State
singles title in high school. Following a demonstration by Hilary,
the girls were divided into age groups and given instruction in putting, chipping
and the full swing. Rules and etiquette were also discussed with invitations
given to the girls for follow up lessons. About 1/3 of the girls were
given new pitching wedges, with the remainder receiving caps and visors courtesy
of PING Golf.
